When Sephy was feeling conflicted, she went to the Apothecary. It was a weird knee jerk kind of reaction she couldn't wholly justify, but right now it was pretty obvious why she was there, as she was purchasing large quantities of comfort foods. She'd been pretty mopey in the past few years, but not without good reason - after all, her best friend, her favorite cousin, and her favorite sister had all abandoned her to go to various locales and work various jobs for various reasons, and not one of them had written back to her. That had depressed her pretty badly, so it seemed sort of nonsensical to think that having all three of those people back in her life would have made her even sadder, but somehow it had managed to. She'd fought with Kyle, Sallie seemed distantly melancholic, and Mireille had changed subtlely in a way that sort of scared Sephy. Her friends were growing up and they were also leaving her behind.
As she browsed through the various ice creams of the Apothecary's small selection, she reflected that at least things couldn't get much worse than they were right now.

Sammy wanted ice cream. Plain and simple. She was on the hunt for her double chocolate chocolate frog with chocolate swirls ice cream. Why is that? The movie based around her novel was dying. It was horrible. They are barely following the plot. Instead of drowning her anger in alchohol, she decided chocolate was the next best thing, besides she just got let out of the house again. Damn Kyle and locking her up like she's a little kid. Yes she knows that she can't just leave and get wasted, but come on, what's a girl supposed to do?
Walking around she saw a very familiar head of brown hair. Not remembering that she had her brown wig on and contacts in (she didn't want be recognized) she called out at her friend. "Sephy?" First time she has seen her since coming back. THe two had become close, thanks Kyle.

Sephy looked up when somebody called her name. At first sight she didn't recognize the speaker and narrowed her eyes. Hogsmeade was a small town, and they were currently at war, so strangers were not taken to kindly. Her voice gave her away, though, it was just weird seeing somebody she'd known from so long ago look so dramatically different. She frowned a little, not really wanting to deal with Kyle's sister right at that moment, but then put on a smile.
"Sammy, hey, you look... different." She said with a laugh, handing Sammy the ice cream she'd selected. She remembered it was the other girl's favorite.

Noticing her narrowed eyes and suddenly feeling very confused, well before the relief was shown on her face, the very little relief from recognition and not it being an enemy. Not knowing what the frown was she assumed it had to do with Kyle, which she made a mental to ask him later. As a brown lock fell into her eyes she remembered that she had on her alter ego. Placing the lock behind her ear she smiled back.
"Thanks. And this would be a protective measure. Don't feel like children recognizing me. Being Heidi Smithson is a drag sometimes. But really. How have you been? It feels like we haven't talked in forever!" It was true. She didn't talk as much to Sephy as Kyle did, but they still talked and she stopped owling- well she didn't think she was ever coming back. With her work and Josie's work and Kyle's career. There wasn't much time, plus just life was hectic moving cross ocean- then cross country.

Sephy nodded as Sammy explained her strange appearance. This seemed like a fairly logical reason for it, although she wasn't entirely sure why somebody would write under a pen name in the first place. She liked recognition. "I'd imagine there are good parts to it, too, though." She said as she returned to browsing the ice cream selection, her hands clasped neatly behind her back. "I've read your book. It was cute." She said, not particularly meaning to be offensive (it was a childrens' book, after all). She had genuinely enjoyed it. Knowing who had written it had been a somewhat deterring factor; she always felt a little bit odd when she checked up on the Henleys, which she had done maybe once every other month, but it was hard not to seeing as the siblings had so much influence in popular wizarding culture.
"We really haven't, have we?" She asked, running a hand through her hair awkwardly. She'd lost contact with Sammy after she'd lost contact with Kyle, and she regretted losing contact with her, but things had just been too hectic. "I've been pretty good. I own a bookstore now, I don't know if you've seen it. It's just down the street, actually." She said, picking up another carton of ice cream that looked appealing.

Samantha had caught on that she was just rambling to someone who was her friend, but probably didn’t care all that much why her normal blonde head was brown. She smiled hearing that her former schoolmate enjoyed it, the only person that she truly knows that has complimented it, it was a compliment that helped her. ”Really? Thanks!” Samantha couldn’t resist the smile. “Sorry for stopping responding to owls, it was kinda a family decision- sorta. Plus moving to New York and then to Los Angeles, California and all of us getting our lives and jobs in the public, it was quite busy.” Sammy couldn’t help explaining, almost feeling obligated. Giving a shrug she turned the conversation back onto Sephy, ”Really? That sounds cool. Now that I think about it, I’m not surprised to see you in a bookstore- let alone owning one. Congratulations. I’ll try to come in and see you soon!” Sammy smiled, glad she actually ran into someone that she knew, funnily enough she has run into two of the sisters. Taking notice of Sephy’s shopping list she let a small laugh escape her lips and she commented, ”Nice shopping list Sephy.”[/ul]

"No, that definitely makes sense." Sephy admitted with a nod as Sam explained her aliases. It was a kind of enviable concept when she thought about it. There were days when Sephy just felt tired of herself sometimes, and it would have been nice to become somebody renowned and loved and exciting on just those days. As she contemplated it, though, she realized that she was probably just coveting what she didn't have. Sam's life was hers to live and hers to judge. It sounded like she was pretty content with herself, though. Sephy smiled as Sam accepted the compliment of the book. "Really." Sephy assured with a grin. "And if there's one thing I know more about than anything else, it's good books." She said with a good natured laugh.
Her smiled faded as Sammy explained why the family had lost contact with her. It wasn't an ideal explanation, and it wasn't something she particularly wanted to talk about, but she supposed it did make sense that it would have been awkward for Sammy to keep in touch with her after Kyle had stopped writing. Shifting the items in the freezer bin around awkwardly, Sephy set the carton of ice cream back down. "Yeah, I understand. Very busy." She tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear. An explanation at the time would have been nice, she reflected, though she almost immediately changed her mind as she imagined the letter. Dear Sephy, we've come to a family decision to stop writing to you. Regards. Pursing her lips, she nodded.
"It's not exactly a lucrative business, but I love it. I'm sure I could find some books you'd particularly like. I'll set them aside for you." She said, drumming her fingers on the edge of the ice bin. "Free of charge. Consider it a housewarming present." She added with a warm smile. For all her history with them, she was truly happy that the Henleys were back in England, selfish as that may have been of her.
She laughed as Sammy commented on her current purchases. "I don't always shop like this, I swear." She said, looking down at her shopping bag, which was currently full of ice cream, chocolate, and other various snack foods.

Sammy gave a warm smile at the end of her sentence. ”Are you happy?” It was a question that could be interpreted in many different ways and many different levels. ”Oh no! I couldn’t take them! I have to pay you. I couldn’t. Don’t worry.” Sammy protested vehemently. It was against her nature to just take, especially when it would be taking from a friend. She looked down into the other girls shopping cart again, ”I believe you don’t, are you having a bad day?” Sammy didn’t mean to pry, she was genuinely curious. Her face turned serious. ”I don’t know what Kyle said to you or what happened. It’s not my business and if Kyle decides to tell me is up to him. I can tell you this, we never planned on returning. We had a family issue in America and once we got there and everything situated our lives has already been set up and formed. We had daily routines and jobs and a live there again. Moving cross ocean is hard, but also moving cross country, it was difficult and almost unwitting to do it again. Once a life is established, change of that magnitude isn’t wanted. I know it sounds bad, but if it’s any consolation: we aren’t planning on moving again.” Sammy’s American voice was never this serious. She hoped that she didn’t lose a friend.[/ul]
